![]() At first, it could be believed that Father was Hohenheim, as that's what the Elric Brothers believed upon first encountering him. ![]() That's not to mention that it killed the tension of Father's reveal as well as his relation to Hohenheim. It's not a series were things stop happening long enough to fit an episode like this in without it being out of place and interupting the pacing the series was so masterfully building up to that point. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood isn't a series where you can interupt the story without disturbing the flow. There really isn't a place that this episode can fit. This episode awkwardly introduces all of this earlier than it needed to be and in such an inconvenient time in the story. Not only had Father not gotten a full reveal yet, but the Homuncili's plans weren't revealed yet, nor was the story of Von Hohenheim and the Dwarf in the Flask. This is a bit of a problem because Father hadn't had a full reveal yet, having only been shown before in the scene were he melts Greed back into a philosopher's stone. The episode in question is a clip show, framed as a vision that Hohenheim is having were he's recapping everything that has happened in the series so far to a young Pinako Rockbell, as well as talking to Father about his plans and talking about their shared backstory without revealing the specifics. This episode takes place between the moment Ed, Lin, and Envy burt out of Gluttony and the Elric first layed eyes on Father for the first time, and the first time they interacted with him immediately after that. This is episode 27, an episode titled Interlude Party. Partway through the series, there is a single episode that completely derails the momentum of the show. There were a few small things left out here and there, but what I want to talk about is something that was put in. Most of this was good stuff, like how great some of the performances in the English version were, or how different some of them were from what I read in my head, or how early in the series Lust died. I hadn't watched the show in some time, so there was a lot I had forgoten about. So recently I rewatched Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood after reading the Fullmetal Alchemist manga series.
